Travis McKinney loved life. Travis was happiest spending time with family and friends. His interest in everyone he met was genuine and his curiosity insatiable.
Travis came alive discussing gardening, food, current affairs and philosophizing about the ways of the world, especially over a glass of wine and a meal of fine food. Travis held strong political and moral beliefs and did not hold back on sharing them. He intensely believed that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity.
Travis McKinney often thanked his Dad, who was named after Col. William Barrett Travis of Alamo fame, for passing on to him empathy for his fellow man. I find myself instinctively reaching for common ground with whomever I meet, which in retrospect seems to honor his memory. Life has been richer for it, and for this I am grateful.
