Gregory “Greg” Chaffins, 61, of Fedscreek, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on May 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 1, 1963, in Fedscreek, Greg was a lifelong resident of Pike County. He was known for his unwavering dedication to his community and his family. A skilled carpenter by trade, Greg’s craftsmanship can be seen in many homes and buildings throughout the area, a testament to his hard work and commitment.
Beyond his professional life, Greg was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren, often sharing stories of his youth and teaching them the values of honesty, perseverance, and kindness. His grandson, Jordan, held a special place in his heart, and their bond was a source of pride and happiness for Greg.
Greg was an avid outdoorsman who cherished the natural beauty of the Kentucky hills. He spent countless hours fishing in the local streams and hiking the trails, instilling a love for nature in all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Margaret Chaffins; his children, Lisa (Michael) Thompson and David (Emily) Chaffins; and his grandchildren, Jordan, Emily, and Noah. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Betty Chaffins, and his brother, Thomas Chaffins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Kentucky. Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pike County Habitat for Humanity, honoring Greg’s legacy of building and community service.
Greg’s life was a testament to the power of hard work, love, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
