WE ARE REGRETFULL TO ANNOUNCE BYRON SMITH, LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY, PASSED AWAY November 23, 2021
A memorial service for Byron Smith will be held on Saturday, March 19 at 2 PM at the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 2300 Taylorsville Road, Louisville KY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Immanuel United Church of Christ or to Kentucky Educational Television, 600 Cooper Drive, Lexington, KY 40502.
Amanda Green: Byron 'Doug' Smith was a wonderful friend and mentor. I knew Doug for nearly 20 years. He was strong and usually quiet but when he spoke you knew you wanted to hear exactly what he had to say. Doug was funny and sarcastic as has been said, he enjoyed making me laugh by drawing out my name… 'Amannnda', it always worked.
Byron Douglass Smith was one of the finest examples of service to humankind that I have ever known. He taught me early on that service to others would be key to my happiness and joy in this world. Doug is missed and helped so many simply by leading with his ever present example.
